Kindergarten

Our kindergarten program is a nurturing, engaging, and dynamic environment where children develop a love for learning. Rooted in Jewish values and traditions, our program fosters curiosity, creativity, and a sense of community.

Through a blend of hands-on activities, individualized instruction, and collaborative projects, our students build foundational skills in literacy, math, science, and social studies. We also emphasize social-emotional growth, encouraging kindness, resilience, and problem-solving.

Enriched with Hebrew language, Judaic studies, art, music, and physical education, our kindergarteners experience a well-rounded education that celebrates their unique potential. At HHAI, every child is inspired to explore, achieve, and grow; academically, spiritually, and socially. First Through Fifth

The Hasten Hebrew Academy elementary school program is the bridge between our early childhood program and our middle school. Grades 1-5 create the foundation for continued success through the middle school and high school years. Students receive an excellent secular and Judaic education. Accredited by the State of Indiana with its Freeway Accreditation, our curriculum meets or exceeds Indiana standards. Our students excel in their standardized test scores and are well prepared to move to middle school.

Language Arts

Our language arts program is designed to inspire confident and capable communicators. Through a balanced literacy approach, students develop essential reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

Guided reading groups, shared reading experiences, and individualized instruction ensure that every student progresses at their own pace while building a strong foundation in phonics, comprehension, and vocabulary. Writing workshops encourage creativity and self-expression as students explore various genres, from narrative and poetry to persuasive and expository writing.

We also integrate literature from diverse voices and perspectives, fostering empathy and critical thinking while igniting a passion for stories. At HHAI, our language arts program empowers students to articulate their ideas and engage meaningfully with the world around them.

Technology

Technological immersion is vital for our students. With interactive coding and Google Apps utilization for cross-curriculum collaboration, elementary students build a fluency in technology that not only nurtures their time at HHAI – but they carry these proficiencies into their adulthood. Students expand these skill sets with digital storytelling, creating and programming in Virtual and Augmented Reality, elements of Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and more. Since 2017, HHAI students have represented the state of Indiana by sharing their accomplishments at the world’s largest EdTech conference - ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education).

Award-Winning Economics Curriculum

HHAI’s entrepreneurial and economics program has earned multiple accolades, including the prestigious Kohelet Prize for Real World Learning in 2018 and the Indiana Elementary Economics Teacher of the Year award in both 2017 and 2018. This innovative program, which introduces students to foundational economic principles and real-world applications, continues as a core component of our 3rd-grade curriculum. By engaging in hands-on projects and entrepreneurial activities, students develop financial literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills that prepare them for success in an ever-changing world.

Fine Arts

The well-established visual arts program incorporates art history and art appreciation with the production of student artwork across multiple media. In music instruction, emphasis is placed on both the development of appreciation for music of various periods and the understanding of basic theory and harmony. Students have the opportunity to participate in school productions as well as performances for special events.

Physical Education

Our physical education curriculum emphasizes skill development, fitness, and sportsmanship. Through a variety of age-appropriate activities, students learn the fundamentals of movement, coordination, and teamwork while building self-confidence and a love for staying active. From collaborative games to fitness challenges, we encourage every student to find joy in physical activity and celebrate personal achievements.
