After School Activities

The Hasten Hebrew Academy offers a variety of enrichment classes that meet after school. The type of classes offered may vary from session to session. Hasten Hebrew Academy students interested in enrolling in these classes should contact the Hasten Hebrew Academy office.

Session 4 - 2010

 

Tuesdays  

 

Learning Through Games - Chess

Grades: K-8

Days: seven Tuesdays (April 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11, 18, 25)

Time: 3:35-4:45

Cost: $52.50 (please make checks to Aaron Dean)

Dismissal Location:  Cafeteria -parents will pick up these students in the cafeteria after class.

For the beginner and intermediate players interested in learning how to play and improve at chess.  This class will encourage children to learn analytical thinking and math skills through chess.  And last, but not least, this class will make learning chess enjoyable and fun! *This class is for students who want to continue class and new students are welcome to join.

 

Dancing with Dana

Grades: 3-4 yr olds

Days:  six Tuesdays (April 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11, 18) *There will be a recital at the conclusion of this class, date and time TBA)

Time: 1:00-1:45

Cost: $48 (please make checks to Dana Benisty)

Dismissal Location:  Cafeteria -parents will pick up these students in the cafeteria after class.

Dana is returning to HHAI with another segment of classes combining aerobic exercise, interactive movement, and contemporary dance.  This is a wonderful opportunity for children to develop skills that promote their health and wellness. *This class is both for students who want to continue class and new students would like to join.

 

Dancing with Dana

Grades: K-3

Wednesdays

 

Juggling with Beanbags

Ages: 9 and up*

Days: six Wednesdays (April 14, 21, 28, May 5, 12, 26)

Time: 3:35-4:45

Cost: $52 (Includes purchase of three juggling cubes that you get to keep.  Please make checks to HHAI)

Dismissal Location:  Cafeteria -parents will pick up these students in the cafeteria after class.

Come have fun learning the basics of juggling and learn to juggle up to three bean bags at one time!  *Please note that although no experience of juggling is necessary, some skill of throwing and catching a small beanbag from one hand to the other is needed.  Younger nine year olds may not be ready for this activity.

 

Create Art for the HHAI Lunch Room

Grades: 4-8

Days: six Wednesdays (April 14, 21, 28, May 5, 12, 26)

Time: 3:35-4:45

Cost: $40 (please make checks to HHAI)

Dismissal Location:  Cafeteria -parents will pick up these students in the cafeteria after class.

Help transform the HHAI lunchroom by creating artwork for display.  We will work with acrylic paint and 12 x 12 boards, all materials included.  All funds will be a direct donation for the Extreme Lunch Room makeover project taking place this school year. *This class is for students who want to continue class and for new students who would like to join.    

 

 

Thursdays  

 

Tae Kwon Do

Grades: K-5

Days: six Thursdays (April 15, 22, 29, May 6, 13, 27)

Time: 3:35-4:45

Cost: $43 (please make checks to Mike Marienthal)

Dismissal Location:  Gym -parents will pick up these students in the gym after class.

Students will learn traditional Tae Kwon Do.  They will learn this martial art while participating in a cultural experience. *This class is for students who want to continue class and for new students would like to join. 

 

Pottery

Grades: K-8

Days: six Thursdays (April 15, 22, 29, May 6, 13, 27)

Time: 3:35-4:45

Cost:  $60

Theme: Hidden Talents

Create and explore clay in all the ways you never have!  Create a head that becomes a vase, experience the pottery wheel and combine two projects to form a designer bowl, create a modern artwork using clay and wire as you carve and texture clay into your very own masterpiece.
